Ascribe to the Lordglory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lordthe glory due His name;
Worship the Lordin the beautyandmajesty of His holiness [as the creator and source of holiness].
3 The voice of the Lordis upon the waters;
The God of glory thunders;
The Lordis over many waters.
4 The voice of the Lordis powerful;
The voice of the Lordis full of majesty.
5 The voice of the Lordbreaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lordbreaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
And Sirion (Mount Hermon) like a young, wild ox.
7 The voice of the Lordrakes flames of fire (lightning).
8 The voice of the Lordshakes the wilderness;
The Lordshakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lordmakes the doe laborandgive birth
And strips the forests bare;
And in His temple all are saying, “Glory!”
10 The Lordsatas Kingat the flood;
Yes, the Lordsits as King forever.
11 The Lordwill give [unyielding and impenetrable] strength to His people;
The Lordwill bless His people with peace.
